Popcorn Balls
Saturday, October 16th, 2010With Halloween right around the corner it’s time to have a little fun in the kitchen. Why not bring back a classic we don’t get the pleasure to see often enough. I remember as a child going trick or treating and coming home with a few popcorn balls in my goodie collection. Popcorn ball are such fun treat for all ages. So gather the family around and create some new memories while also making a delicous treat to snack on. The recipe below will make about 20 popcorn balls so plenty to share.
Ingredients:
3/4 c. light corn syrup
1/4 c. butter
2 t. cold water
2 ½ c. plus 2 T. confectioners’ sugar
1 c. marshmallows
5 quarts plain popped popcorn
Directions
1.In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the corn syrup, margarine, cold water, confectioners’ sugar and marshmallows.
2.Heat and stir until the mixture comes to a boil.
3.Carefully combine the hot mixture with the popcorn, coating each kernel.
4.Grease hands with vegetable shortening and quickly shape the coated popcorn into balls before it cools.
5.Wrap with cellophane or plastic wrap and store at room temperature.
